Part 1....
I returned yesterday from Florida. The Space Shuttle Launch was Awesome. This pic shows people staking their places for the launch viewing.

People were everywhere. On the streets, parking lots, grassy areas. The estimate was 39,000. We had tickets for the VIP area so we were in a special parking lot and we were taken by bus to our viewing area. There is an alligator in the water.

This is a presentation of what a control room looks like

Our viewing area bleachers. We stayed inside the visitor center where it was cool and went out 15 minutes before launch.

We stood here on the grass right at the fence next to the press cameras. See the guy sitting on the fence? That is where I was standing during launch. See the blonde woman in the center of the picture? You can see the Launch pad over her head 3 miles away.

A fella fishing on the beach..

We had a good time except for the bugs...creepy but that is a natural thing in Florida and some Southern coastal states.

Oh I am looking forward to seeing the Ireland pictures. My grandfather came to America when he was a young boy.

Enjoy your trip Flamingo.

When you return make a new thread for the Ireland pictures.
